Think about your last carnival or club night. How many events did you run?
If you have a small swimming club of around 60 athletes competing in 4 strokes in a 6 lane pool then you are running a minimum of 40 events, and in reality more likely 50 or 60 as you are unlikely to have been able to pack each race completely full.
How long does each event take to run, a minute, two? Including marshalling, starting, posting scores and recording? On average it’s about 2.5 to 3 minutes per event, which means the session above will take somewhere around 2-3 hours. If you have a bigger club then you have longer sessions or you find ways to save time.
Wylas Timing can help you save time. Lots of it. Because all times are automatically calculated and wirelessly transmitted back to our timing system. The computer operator can immediately finalise the race as soon as it has been completed there is no waiting around post race. This saves about a minute per event, or roughly 1/3 of the session time or a whole hour in the example above.
That means kids and parents that are less tired, especially for those late night carnivals and parents and volunteers are happy.
